Super Moon 2011

Saturday, March 19th, was dubbed Super Moon Saturday, because the moon was closer to Earth than it has been in over 18 years. This is the type of stuff that gets most photographers very excited (okay, maybe a little obsessed) to get “the shot.” So I did a bit of research on “moon photography,” and I got my tripod ready, and I waited. Finally, after what seemed like 37 hours of waiting, the moon finally made its appearance. Unfortunately, it was a hazy, cloudy night; and I was quite disappointed in the way things were turning out. But as the moon started to rise above the haze, I could tell that I might have a chance for “the shot” after all, if I could just be patient and wait some more. Stupid patience! I’m so not good at it.

While I must admit that these photos are not worthy to be called “the shot;” I am still very pleased with my first attempts at shooting the moon.
